About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Examiner Coordinator to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Investigations Unit, you will play a critical role in conducting medical legal investigations into sudden deaths, evaluating unexpected and violent deaths, and managing a caseload of complex investigations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough medical legal investigations into sudden deaths, including gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing medical and technical data.
  • Evaluate unexpected and violent deaths, including determining cause and manner of death, and making recommendations for further investigation or action.
  • Manage a caseload of complex investigations, including ensuring all relevant documents are obtained, investigations are complete, and families are updated on the status of their case.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to junior investigators, and collaborate with medical examiners, law enforcement agencies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective and efficient investigations.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a strong background in nursing or a related field, with a minimum of five years of recent critical care experience. You must also possess excellent computer skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions
