Join Our Team as a Property and Casualty Underwriter
We're seeking a dynamic and motivated Property and Casualty Underwriter to join our growing team. As a key member of our Commercial Lines department, you'll play a crucial role in networking and building relationships with brokers, growing a profitable book of business, and providing creative solutions to complex risks.
About the Role
- Assess, evaluate, and negotiate moderate to complex risks
- Develop and implement effective pricing and underwriting strategies
- Quote, negotiate, sell, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, and endorsements
- Participate in broker visits, industry functions, and marketing events
- Provide technical advice, coaching, and mentorship to team members
- Use computer systems for policy inquiry, electronic filing, underwriting, and rating transactions
- Foster cooperative broker relationships to identify and develop sales opportunities
What We're Looking For
- Minimum 3+ years commercial insurance experience
- Commercial Underwriting experience a strong asset
- Strong track record of developing, mentoring, and coaching teammates
- Able to develop and grow excellent relationships with brokers and colleagues
- Sales-focused and demonstrated confidence when negotiating and communicating with brokers
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Self-driven and able to work well under pressure to meet deadlines
- Solution seeker and able to make recommendations to increase work efficiency
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office products and capable of navigating through multiple systems
- Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation preferred
