Main Purpose and Function

The Health Facility Attendant plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and respectful delivery of personal hygiene programs and services at the Gathering Place Health Centre. This position involves assisting patrons in accessing essential services, including laundry, showers, and first aid, while maintaining a clean and welcoming environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support volunteers in the delivery of health-related services
  • Monitor patron behavior and ensure adherence to Centre rules and standards
  • Provide basic first aid and maintain applicable records
  • Assess clients for lice, scabies, and bedbugs, and provide guidance on necessary procedures
  • Administer lice and scabies treatments as required
  • Perform laundry and shower duties, and maintain equipment and supplies
  • Make referrals to community agencies as needed
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Completion of the eleventh school grade, or equivalent experience
  • St. John Ambulance Safety Certificate
  • Understanding of the needs and challenges of persons impacted by marginalization
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a larger team
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position, including standing, lifting, and bending
