About the RoleThis is a temporary full-time position in the Hematology laboratory, reporting to the Senior Manager, Core Lab. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, organizing, and assigning workload among technical staff, ensuring the efficient operation of the laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and manage technical staff to ensure efficient laboratory operations
- Perform laboratory procedures for all disciplines and functions, ensuring completion of assigned workload
- Maintain quality control and equipment within assigned areas of the laboratory
- Manage inventory and supplies to ensure efficient utilization and distribution
- Identify and report discrepancies/errors, taking appropriate action as required
- Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and protocols
- Assess technical staff performance and provide coaching and feedback
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment and work area
- Prepare reports to document procedures and test results
- Participate in teaching, educational, safety, and quality improvement programs
- Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Technologist program
- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO) required
- Five (5) years of recent laboratory experience in Hematology, preferably at the senior level
- Strong theoretical knowledge of Hematology and Hematology blood film and body fluid morphology skills
- Excellent problem-recognition and problem-solving skills
- Effective time management and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and in a fast-paced environment
