Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, the Social Worker - MSW Senior is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a provincial training initiative focused on intimate partner abuse prevention with an emphasis on diverse and underserved populations. They will hold a formal supervisory (clinical/ professional and/or administrative) relationship with other employees, preceptor students in formal clinical practicum, and provide professional and public education regarding intimate partner abuse resources. The Social Worker - MSW Senior works with an interdisciplinary team that provides a complex range of assessment and treatment services to a mental health and addiction population with a specialization in the area of intimate partner abuse. As a senior practitioner, acts as a resource for other professionals for mental health, addiction and intimate partner abuse in the community.

Education

  • Recognized Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW). Registration in good standing with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW).

Experience

  • Three (3) years (postgraduate) recognized experience delivering clinical services to an adult mental health and addiction population. Two (2) years (postgraduate) recognized experience supervising and/or providing leadership in a team environment. One (1) year must include direct experience working with an adult domestic abuse/violence population.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Expert knowledge of Intimate Partner Abuse treatment modalities and specific intervention techniques
  • Knowledge of therapeutic court process for Intimate Partner Abuse
  • Broad knowledge of community resources including treatment programs and support agencies is essential
  • Project management skills to lead and support cross-sectoral, multidisciplinary collaboration to pursue the goals of this initiative
  • Provide consultation and feedback to individual, group and organizational stakeholders as it pertains to intimate partner abuse
  • Strong organizational skills to coordinate multiple demands and ability to prioritize those requests to meet program requirements
  • Knowledge of a variety of mental health disorders and interventions; addiction and harm reduction strategies required to enable clients to sustain stability
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty across a wide range of clinical presentation and formulate evidence based intervention
  • Demonstrated cultural competency skills
  • Knowledge of Recovery philosophy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a self-motivated manner, ability to respond under pressure
  • Excellent consultation and public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal competence including effective problem solving; and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Ability to prepare reports in a clear concise and timely manner. Ability to provide public presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to enter and retrieve data in a computer database system.
