PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

VENEER SAWMILL

We are looking to fill a Production Supervisor position at the Veneer Sawmill (45h/week, day and night rotation) with reliable, motivated, to join our management team at the Veneer Sawmill. This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to build their career in a fast-growing company that can challenge you and allow you to reach your full potential.

The work:

  • Manage staff under direct responsibility and develop a work environment conducive to continuous improvement results, including the management of training and development.
  • Administrative support such as staff planning, payroll submission and daily reports.
  • Monitor productivity throughout the shift and adjust tasks, resources, scheduling so that production goals are met, and resources are used efficiently.
  • Implement and enforce health, safety and quality standards at all time.
  • Ensure that quality, safety, commitment and environmental standards are met.
  • Training and development of team members.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts (e.g. obtain suggestions, report problems, lead team-based problem-solving sessions)

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma/professional certificate, preferably in technology or industrial engineering, forestry, business administration or management
  • Ideal candidates will possess more than 2 years of supervisory experience as well as the demonstrated ability to lead a team
  • Experience in an industrial or production environment will be considered an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (French / English) with a natural ability to influence those around you
  • Determination to perform at peak performance in a safe work environment; as well as have a comprehensive knowledge of an occupational health and safety program.
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Problem-solving skills, analytical and synthesis skills
  • Be able to work in a team
  • Autonomy, initiative, leadership and concern for the quality of work
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Meet JDI's selection criteria
