Steel Slitter Operator

Join our team as a Steel Slitter Operator at [Company Name], a leading manufacturer of steel products. In this critical role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of our production line.

Job Summary

As a Steel Slitter Operator, you will be responsible for completing work orders from customers and clients in a timely manner by slitting steel into various widths for in-house use and outside customers. You will provide direction to the crew line to ensure uninterrupted service and work closely with material handlers, co-workers, and shift supervisors.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Read and complete work orders accurately and efficiently
  • Follow setup guides to ensure smooth production
  • Communicate effectively with material handlers, co-workers, and shift supervisors
  • Perform basic troubleshooting of machines and process flow
  • Ensure all materials slit on shift meet customer or internal specifications
  • Operate control panels or manually feed steel through the line to be cut
  • Monitor and maintain efficient slitting line operation to meet targets
  • Coordinate material handling, packing, changeover operations, decanning, and staging of slit coils
  • Ensure safe working conditions are maintained
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience in machine operations
  • Previous experience in cutting or slitting steel or metal materials
  • Basic computer skills
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of 5S and lean practices
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills
Working Conditions

The Steel Slitter Operator will be required to wear personal protective equipment at all times. The role involves working rotating shifts, standing for long periods, and exposure to loud noise.
