Our primary products out of this location are Wound Distributed Gap Cores, Mitre and Butt Lap Laminations, Logs and Fully Assembled Cores, Steel Sales, Custom Slitting and warehousing for Tempel Steel’s Laminations.

**Job Summary**:
The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing environmental health and safety programs to prevent injury, occupational illness, and damage to property or the environment and to ensure the company is compliant and drives world class safety in regard to OHSA, CEPA and other applicable local regulations.

**Principle Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Develop, coordinate and supervise the implementation and maintenance of facility-wide occupational health and safety program designed to prevent injury, occupational illness, damage to property, and new ideas to drive world class safety.
- Identify environmental health and safety training needs, coordinate and schedule training sessions and evaluations.
- Ensure company wide compliance with OHSA of Ontario.
- Assist and support special environmental health and safety projects, including Risk Analysis on machines/equipment, Job Task Analysis and Physical Demands Analysis.
- Maintain first aid report and investigate all office and shop floor accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine causes and preventive measures.
- Prepare reports or review findings from accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing.
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards, and to ensure safety regulation compliance, including new equipment pre-start reviews (PSRs).
- Collaborate with facility engineers and management to institute control and remedial measures for hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions or equipment.
- Provides safety/health/environmental related orientation and training to new and existing employees; developing materials for these presentations and updating training records.
- Orders and monitors personal protective equipment and medical supplies; decides which PPE to use based on quality and dependability.
- Provides monthly reports showing, incident rates Dupont Safety Score (globally), files all miscellaneous.
- Reviews, processes, all paperwork and reports received from attorneys, third parties, internal sources, and doctor’s offices associated with OHSA, worker’s compensation, etc.
- Ensure health and safety communication boards are up to date, schedule Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and inspections, follow-up on JHSC items and prepare/follow-up on work orders.
- Manage WSIB claims, including WSIB Form 7 for workplace illness/injury, and coordinate return to work (RTW) programs.
- Coordinate annual file drills and emergency evacuation procedures.
- Request, track, and file WSIB clearance certificates and ensure contractor documentation is up to date.
- Act as the primary contact for Ministry of Environment (MOE) and Ministry of Labour (MOL) visits, and ensure orders are completed and signed off.
- Maintain Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) program including waste manifests and other environmental obligations.
- Active member of the JHSC, co-chair meetings at least every quarter.
- Ensure safety data sheets (SDS) binders are up to date.
- Any other tasks assigned, including administrative functions.

**Required Qualifications**:

- Undergraduate degree or college diploma with a focus on Environmental Health and Safety.
- 3-5 years of experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Canadian Registered Safety Professional, Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, or Certified Industrial Hygienist a major plus.
- Certified JHSC Representative.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of local laws, investigation methods, OHSA, NFPA, CEPA and MTO.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate with people of all levels of the organization and with outside parties.
- Keeps current with and effectively applies new work methods, skills, and technologies to complete work.
- Demonstrates the willingness and competence to work in multiple functional areas.
