Carpenter Helper needed for a contract position at Unionville College in Ontario. Assist skilled tradespersons with carpentry work, laboring activities, and construction tasks.

Unionville College is a private school in historic Unionville, Ontario, with a proud tradition of quality instruction and measurable educational excellence. The school is expanding to a second campus in Stouffville, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist skilled tradespersons with all types of carpentry work, including building wooden or part wooden items, furniture, and stairs.
  • Perform laboring activities, such as storage, lifting, fetching supplies, unloading, and checking deliveries.
  • Assist tradespersons with construction activities, especially at the second campus.
  • Remove rubble and other debris at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment.
  • Direct traffic at or near construction sites.
  • Identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, working practices, and health and safety.

Qualifications:

  • No education required.
  • 1 year of work experience as a carpenter helper.
  • Speak, read, and write English.
