Senior Financial Analyst, IT Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our IT Infrastructure team at Equitable. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for providing financial insights and analysis to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of financial reporting changes and update accounting policies to ensure compliance with IFRS, OSFI, CLHIA, and other regulations.
  • Prepare and analyze IT-specific financial reports for Board and Management purposes.
  • Liaise with business areas regarding complex accounting and/or financial reporting issues/questions.
  • Develop and deliver accounting models and financial information.
  • Ensure robust controls exist over the accounting tied to business activities.
  • Participate in system changes or projects that impact business transactions or accounting.
  • Deliver expense and budgeting information to stakeholders.
  • Ensure documentation of procedures for account reconciliation and internal controls is prepared and maintained.
  • Automate and improve various processes to reduce risk and improve efficiency.
  • Teach, train, and mentor stakeholders on key processes and procedures.
  • Prepare and analyze the financial reporting package, including line of business commentary.
  • Develop financial reporting benchmarks against peers and other sources.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the annual IT business plan process.
  • Coordinate IT budgets with divisional stakeholders.
  • Maintain and enhance MIS reporting processes.
  • Create and maintain robust IT accounting policies and procedures.
  • Implement new accounting standards and financial reporting updates.
  • Identify and implement improvements to finance processes.
  • Improve communication between finance areas.
  • Provide a forum to discuss issues, new developments, train, and educate those involved in finance processes.
  • Act as a backup to other ITAFVM staff for purchasing and accounting-related duties.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three years in an IT financial analysis and planning role.
  • Chartered Professional Accounting (CPA) designation or international equivalent.
  • Post-secondary education with emphasis on accounting and business administration.
  • ITIL v3 Foundations certification a strong asset.
  • Expert knowledge and experience with general accounting concepts.
  • Expert knowledge and experience in planning, management, and analysis of enterprise IT financials.
  • Foundational knowledge and understanding of technology delivery as they pertain to financial management.
  • Advanced knowledge of business risk and financial controls.
  • Expert knowledge and capabilities in software tools related to financial analysis and management.
  • Knowledge and experience with specific IT financial management systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with focus and attention to detail.
  • Excellent innovator and critical thinker.
  • Excellent communications and negotiation skills.
  • Handles critical and sensitive information with confidentiality and privacy.
