ROLE SUMMARY

Substation Electrician will be responsible for leading or assisting with construction projects for large commercial & industrial (C&I) and utility sectors (running conduit, pulling cable, coordinating subs, installation of TX, PCS and SWGRs) battery testing and installation. This position is expected to travel up to 100%.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of different electrical systems, faulty equipment and apparatus including transformers, circuit breakers, switches, switchgears, instrument transformers, relays and other related equipment (up to 69kV).
  • Installation of structural steel, installation of buried utilities.
  • Operation of construction equipment such as manlifts, and zoom booms.
  • Responsible for Inspection and testing of high voltage electrical equipment installed in a substation. Ensure test and maintenance reports are maintained and completed at all times
  • Lead installation and facilitate planning of ground grids, assembly of power system equipment, cabling and wiring
  • Perform and facilitate substation equipment maintenance according to company and industry standards
  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a PSE/ Journeyman Electrician with at least 2 years of experience working in substations required
  • Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Utility Code (E.U.C Safety Codes Act) and Occupational Health and Safety rules as they relate to the Electrician role
  • Have a valid Provincial Class 5 driver's license with an acceptable driving record
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office and computer-based test equipment would be an asset
  • Must be able to work comfortably at heights
  • Dedicated to a respectful work environment and teamwork with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to work within strict deadlines.
  • Must show that you can work in a safe manner with respect to the environment, health and safety issues in the work place.
  • Ability to travel for overnight assignment.
  • Ability to lift 50Lbs.
  • Cold weather and outside work as necessary
