**Job Summary:**
We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at Mystic, a new restaurant on the Halifax waterfront, where you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients.

**About the Job:**
Mystic is a restaurant that explores the natural landscape of Canada, with a focus on the Maritime provinces. Our chefs are passionate about showcasing the region's exceptional fish, flora, and fauna, sourced within a 100km radius. We are looking for a Cook who is passionate about food and cooking, with a desire to serve the best every time.

**Responsibilities:**

* Perform delegated tasks from Sous Chef, Chef, and/or General Manager
* Prepare and present high-quality dishes using locally sourced ingredients
* Follow recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications
* Maintain a prep list of station duties
* Follow the FIFO method to maximize freshness
* Assist in food inventory and control
* Clean food prep areas, equipment, utensils, and adhere to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines
* Other duties as assigned or required

**Requirements:**

* 3+ years cooking experience in a fast-paced restaurant
* Culinary diploma/degree is an asset
* Understanding of professional cooking and knife handling skills
* Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure
* Able to spend 100% of the time standing
* Food Handlers certification a plus
