Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Compliance Manager to join our team at Loblaw Companies Limited. As a key member of our sustainability team, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and developing strategies to reduce our environmental footprint.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Compliance
    • Develop, review, and update environmental procedures and training documents to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
    • Support business units in executing and complying with environmental programs.
    • Participate in compliance audits to ensure effective execution.
    • Manage waste audit program execution with external consulting services.
  • Environmental Emergency Response
    • Assist business units during environmental emergencies to ensure regulatory reporting requirements are met.
    • Verify actions taken during incident response were properly carried out.
    • Escalate critical incidents to Director and stakeholders as required.
  • Waste and Recycling Management
    • Interact with maintenance and procurement teams to support contract execution for waste and recycling services.
    • Maintain relationships with waste service vendors and manage their performance and compliance.
    • Review vendor processes to ensure waste material is properly managed.
Requirements
  • University degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Management.
  • 5-7 years of experience in environmental compliance, sustainability, and project management.
  • Highly skilled in environmental compliance, sustainability, and project management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with teams of multi-level stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking capabilities.
  • Demonstrated skills in communication and critical thinking to assist during emergency situations.
  • Work effectively autonomously, in traditional and non-traditional workplace settings.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Programs, including Excel skills to manage large databases.
  • Bilingual in French is an asset.
