About the Opportunity

Echocardiography involves the use of highly sophisticated ultrasound technology to evaluate cardiac anatomy, function, and hemodynamic. The Cardiac Sonographer will utilize equipment and comprehensive specialized education to obtain diagnostic recordings of cardiac ultrasound images and doppler hemodynamic data with indirect supervision from the cardiac physician.

  • Evaluate and record pathological findings, obtain measurements and calculations, and prepare a summary of findings for review by the Echocardiologist.
  • Discuss exams with the Echocardiologist using PACS and recorded information, maintain accurate patient files, and record timely information in the computer.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and practice good patient care at all times.
  • Provide advanced practice service to the adult congenital population, tertiary and surgical programs, research programs, and clinical training for residents and student sonographers.
About You
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound.
  • Sonography Canada certification.
  • Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred.
  • Experience in a tertiary care setting an asset.
  • Experience in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, TEE, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Exercise Stress Echo, and Research Echo preferred.
  • Experience with Philips IE 33, Epiq 7, and IntelliSpace Workstations an asset.
  • Experience with General Electric Vivid E95 an asset.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
Hours
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly.
  • On-call in a rotation for after hours and weekend coverage.
  • Travel to various sites will be required.
Compensation and Incentives

$39.96 hourly

This position is eligible for a Market Adjustment of approximately $369.23 biweekly.
