About the Opportunity

Echocardiography is a highly specialized field that utilizes advanced ultrasound technology to evaluate cardiac anatomy, function, and hemodynamics. As a Cardiac Sonographer, you will work with sophisticated equipment to obtain diagnostic recordings of cardiac ultrasound images and doppler hemodynamic data under the indirect supervision of a cardiac physician.

You will evaluate and record pathological findings, obtain measurements and calculations, and prepare a summary of the findings for review by the Echocardiologist. Effective communication with the Echocardiologist will be essential, and you will discuss exams using PACS and recorded information. Additionally, you will maintain accurate patient files, record timely information in the computer, and practice good patient care.

This role involves rotating between five clinical sites on a weekly basis and providing portable echocardiograms as needed. After-hour call-back service is also required, and you will assist the Echocardiologist during transesophageal, dobutamine stress echo, exercise stress echo, and contrast studies.

About You
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound
  • Sonography Canada certification
  • Nova Scotia College of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Professionals (NSCMIRTP) licensure
  • Current BLS certification
  • Minimum of one year clinical experience preferred
  • Experience in a tertiary care setting an asset
  • Experience in Adult Congenital Heart Disease, TEE, Dobutamine Stress Echo, Exercise Stress Echo, and Research Echo preferred
  • Experience with Philips IE 33, Epiq 7, and IntelliSpace Workstations an asset
  • Experience with General Electric Vivid E95 an asset
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
Hours
  • Permanent full-time position; 75 hours biweekly
  • On-call in a rotation for after hours and weekend coverage
  • Travel to various sites will be required (DGH, Cobequid, Mumford Road, VG, or the Halifax Infirmary)
Compensation and Incentives

$34.24 - $39.96 hourly

This position is eligible for a Market Adjustment, with eligibility reviewed periodically. Successful candidates may also be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
