Special Interest Instructor - Ski Special Interest Instructor - Ski

Join our team as a Special Interest Instructor - Ski and share your passion for skiing with customers of all ages and abilities.

About the Role

This is a sessional position with the Town of Georgina's Recreation Services department. As a Special Interest Instructor - Ski, you will be responsible for planning, implementing, and instructing safe ski and/or snowboard lessons.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and safe ski and/or snowboard lessons to customers of all ages and abilities.
  • Assess participants and complete report cards at the end of each session.
  • Monitor participants and adapt lessons as necessary to ensure a positive learning experience.
  • Prepare lesson materials, including structured lesson plans and on-hill set up and tear down.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and interact with participants, staff, spectators, and community members.
  • Follow up with parents/guardians at the end of each lesson to discuss student progress.
  • Perform administrative tasks to support the program as assigned by the Recreation Programmer.
  • Ensure all participants are wearing industry-standard equipment required for their lesson.
Requirements
  • Excellent ski/snowboard ability.
  • Knowledge of The Alpine Responsibility Code.
  • Ability to work in and withstand severe cold and adverse weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC), deemed as satisfactory by the Town.
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C is considered an asset.
  • Level 1 Certified Instructor (CSIA or CASI) or willingness to attain certification prior to season start.
