About the Role

The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination of the electrical and millwright activities within Techform. The Maintenance Supervisor, in cooperation with all production and maintenance functions, will set priorities on a daily, weekly, monthly and yearly maintenance schedule. In addition the Maintenance Supervisor will ensure that all buildings and grounds are maintained in accordance with policy and applicable government codes.

Your Responsibilities


• Set the priorities and assign responsibility to direct reports as required;

• Estimate the time and cost required for each job;

• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams as required;

• Read and interpret blueprints for equipment and parts;

• Trouble shoot electrical control and maintenance problems;

• Communicate fabricated part requirements to engineering and toolroom through the use of basic sketches;

• Coordinate the testing and start up mechanical equipment;

• Ensure that all quality and safety requirements are being carried out in the performance of maintenance duties;

• Communicate with all other departments within Techform as required;

• Work with production, engineering, tool room and maintenance staff to ensure that appropriate items are in stock when required;

• Monitor all purchasing activity directed through the maintenance function;

• Service the daily needs of all departments within Techform;

• Responsible for the upkeep of all grounds and buildings, including routine maintenance on all, seasonal work, such as snow removal, lawn care, landscaping;

• Responsible for waste oil/coolant storage and pick up, constantly being conscious of and reacting to any environmental impact caused by Techform;

• Interface with engineering to keep informed of any upcoming projects so as to monitor all building limitations and be aware of any changes required to support these projects.

• Communicate with town and building officials to ensure compliance by Techform to any and all fire and building codes during any changes/additions. Keep current of any and all changes to these codes.

• Supervise all outside contractors in the building that will have a direct impact on the building, inside or outside.

• Communicate with scheduling and production for the most efficient use of downtime in order to ensure proper maintenance on equipment.

• Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.

• Meet budgetary spending targets for the departmental cost centre

• Ensure that quality standards are communicated and enforced within the department.

• Ensure that safety standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.

• Ensure that training requirements for each departmental employee are identified and plans are in place to close any gaps.

• Ensure that environmental standards are identified, communicated and enforced within the department.

• Initiate, where required, employee counseling and disciplinary action.

• Perform a minimum of one yearly performance evaluation for each departmental employee.

• Maintain housekeeping standards within the department.

• Ensure the fair administration of all company policies including wage and benefit packages.

• Maintain communication and utilize the expertise of other departments as required.

• Ensure the efficient execution of responsibilities as outlined in the job descriptions for each position within the department.

• Comply with defined Business Management and Environmental Management Systems requirements.

• Provide support for the continuous improvement initiatives within Techform.

• Provide support in the attainment of Techform's operating system goals as outlined by the key graphs.

• Carry out all duties focusing on the goal of internal and external customer satisfaction.

• Other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor or designate.

Your preferred qualifications


• Strong organizational and supervisory skills;

• An in-depth understanding of all machinery and processes within Techform;

• A solid understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical components;

• Ability to use measuring equipment such as micrometers and verniers;

• Certified millwright and/or electrician with the appropriate papers;

• Pre-employment training includes the making of repairs to equipment in either a lead hand or supervisory capacity;

• Five to ten years experience in the maintenance function;

• Ability to read detailed machine blueprints;

• Attention to detail is key as position involves work on equipment that is not easily replaced.
