The Host/Hostess is a key member of our Canucks Bar and Grill team, responsible for providing exceptional guest experiences from the moment they arrive. This role requires a warm and welcoming demeanor, with a focus on ensuring seamless transitions between guest arrival and server introduction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcoming guests and seating them at an appropriate table, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.
  • Maintaining accurate records of customer reservations and seating times, providing exceptional service at all times.
  • Updating restaurant seating charts to ensure optimal guest flow and satisfaction.
  • Assisting with maintaining sufficient stock of roll-up silverware for the incoming shift, ensuring a well-stocked and organized dining area.
  • Providing expert knowledge of menus and beverage options to guests, ensuring they make informed choices.
  • Overseeing the delivery and servicing of food and beverages, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
  • Liaising between kitchen staff and floor staff to ensure guests' experiences meet Canucks Bar and Grill standards.
  • Performing tasks of the cashier and/or bus person as required, including cashing out guests' checks to speed up service.
  • Understanding and following HMSHost cash handling policies and procedures, maintaining proper security of cash at all times.
  • Patrolling assigned station, refilling water and coffee, removing service items and condiments per establishment procedures.
  • Performing other duties in a team effort during downtime, including rolling silverware, expediting food orders, washing dishes, preparing food for the To-go areas, and properly cleaning and filling table condiments.
Requirements
  • Customer service and cash handling experience preferred.
  • Excellent organization skills, with the ability to read and interpret restaurant seating charts.
  • Ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic, and outgoing manner.
  • Ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
  • Requires the ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers.
