Community Inclusion Worker: Assist individuals with disabilities to participate in community activities, promote independence, and self-determination.

As a Community Inclusion Worker, you will support individuals with disabilities to participate in personal, social, vocational, and volunteer opportunities within the community. You will work collaboratively with the individual to identify their goals and preferences, and develop a plan to achieve them. Your role will involve empowering the individual to make informed decisions and take control of their life, while maintaining excellent standards of care, health, and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respect and advocate for the individual's rights and choices
  • Interact effectively with individuals and their families
  • Empower individuals to be full citizens of their community
  • Coordinate and facilitate community-based activities
  • Foster positive relationships with families, professionals, and community members
  • Develop and implement individual service plans
  • Record daily activity and personal health information
  • Understand and apply behavior management principles and strategies

Requirements:

  • Grade 12 education
  • Community Support Worker Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in community social services/health care
  • Current Emergency First Aid/CPR and Food Safe certificates
  • Behavior management training
  • Effective communication and non-verbal skills
  • Valid BC Driver's License
  • Criminal record clearance for children and vulnerable adults
  • Moderate computer literacy
  • Eligibility to work in Canada
