About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Johnson Controls International. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, machinery, and equipment using applied knowledge of engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical design support to the engineering department, with a focus on mechanical design engineering.
  • Design product assembly lines with production coordinators and engineers, ensuring all associated administrative work is addressed in advance of construction kick-off.
  • Be involved in various aspects of the business, including support for estimating, business development, and sales, production improvements, and marketing.
  • Develop new and innovative product lines and refine existing products.
  • Design, develop, and test air handling units and modular data centers, including selection of fans, coils, and other equipment components, costing of units and components, production of equipment drawings and submittal packages, and review of unit construction drawing packages.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Engineering degree (BSc. Eng., B.Eng.).
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation.
  • Five or more years of related experience.
  • Three or more years of experience in HVAC design, including knowledge of equipment and system selection, design, and control.
  • Additional experience in metal fabrication and/or manufacturing is an asset.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with APEGA.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software.
  • Ability to integrate new technologies into machines.
  • Ability to converse and collaborate with multiple departments spanning multiple disciplines.
  • Competence in designing according to industry codes and standards.
  • Working knowledge of risk analysis and relevant legislative compliance.
  • Proven track record in managing large project budgets.
  • Practical experience with risk management, product design and testing, estimating, and project management.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed, capable of multi-tasking, and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite.
