Job Type: Regular, Full-Time

The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is a government agency responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis in the province. As an Assistant Manager, you will play a key role in the management of a major retail operation, providing leadership and direction to achieve sales targets and deliver excellent customer service.

About the Role:

  • Assist in developing and implementing operational plans to maximize revenue and control costs
  • Develop annual store budgets and analyze reports to inform business decisions
  • Provide leadership and direction to staff, including hiring, training, and development
  • Contribute to establishing and improving the Cannabis Store image through policy implementation and maintenance
  • Participate in labour relations matters and ensure compliance with company policies

Responsibilities:

  • Provide excellent customer service and education to the public
  • Assist in managing assets and controlling employment costs
  • Participate in all store duties, including shift work, evenings, and weekends
  • Travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia as required
  • Lift cases of up to 50lbs to varying heights and perform warehouse duties

Requirements:

  • Secondary (high) school diploma or equivalent certificate
  • Minimum of one (1) year of recent, related experience in a customer-facing retail operation
  • Experience as a supervisor or assistant manager leading a team
  • Experience with customer service, asset management, and team leadership

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree, diploma, or certificate in business or retail management
  • Experience working in the cannabis industry
  • Formal course work in cannabis from an accredited post-secondary institution
