Lakehead University, Orillia Campus, invites applications for one limited term appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of English. The academic rank of the appointment will be commensurate with the qualifications of the successful candidate. The position will commence on Aug and continue for 12 months.

The Department of English on the Orillia campus offers both bachelors and honours bachelors English programs. In addition to joint honours and arts and science options, the English degree also offers two optional possibilities for specialization in either writing or cultural studies and popular texts. The department supports students in numerous interdisciplinary and collaborative undergraduate degree programs, including, but not limited to, concurrent education.

We are seeking a committed faculty member and flexible teacher to join our team for the upcoming academic year.

Applicants for this position should have a PhD in English and a record of publication and successful teaching in the discipline. The ideal candidate will have teaching experience at all year levels, and will be able to demonstrate teaching expertise in two or more of the following areas:

  • Children's Literature
  • First-year Writing and Composition
  • Film and Media Studies
  • Global literatures
  • Science Fiction

Experience with experiential learning and online or alternative modes of delivery is highly desired.
