Summary: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position available at Horizon Health Network in Saint John, New Brunswick, providing nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse, including observing and reporting changes in patients' behavior, participating in goal-oriented communication, and charting pertinent information.
  • Assist patients with basic hygiene needs, such as bathing, shaving, and skin care, as well as assist with elimination needs, including bed pan, urinal, and commode care.
  • Assist patients with respiratory therapy via oxygen mask and cannula, and provide post-mortem care as needed.
  • Prepares patient for transfer and/or discharge as directed, and maintains effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the public.

Requirements:
  • Graduation from an approved school for Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Current registration with the NB Association of Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and a collaborative practice work structure
  • Ability to function within the LPN scope of practice
  • Demonstrates initiative, good judgment, and the ability to set priorities
  • Consistently demonstrates effective communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High regard for confidentiality
  • Relevant work experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse within the past five years
  • Willing to complete any relevant advanced competency education
  • Maintains annually, CPR and other online learning requirements
