About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Healthcare Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide a range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health. Your expertise will include psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, resource counseling, discharge planning, and case management.

You will be actively involved in advocacy, education, program planning, consultation, and collaboration on behalf of individuals and groups within the institution and community. This role requires a dynamic and autonomous individual who can work collaboratively with our team to provide high-quality patient care.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with a Master's Degree in Social Work from a recognized university and registration with the NSCSW. You will have a minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a clinical Social Worker and knowledge of the fundamentals of human behavior, including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behavior change. Awareness of local community resources and agencies is an asset.

You will also have a valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable automobile. Experience working with patients with complex chronic health conditions and co-facilitating education sessions with other multidisciplinary team members are preferred. Competencies in other languages, particularly French, are an asset.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate for this position is $49.05. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
