About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Healthcare Social Worker to join our team. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will provide a diverse range of interventions to clients and their families, enabling them to achieve their optimal level of functioning and health.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing psychosocial assessments, adjustment therapy, supportive therapy, crisis counseling, resource counseling, discharge planning, and case management
  • Advocating, educating, and collaborating with individuals and groups within the institution and community
  • Working autonomously and collaboratively as part of a dynamic and multifaceted role

The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, be registered or eligible for registration with the NSCSW, and have 2 years of clinical experience as a clinical Social Worker. Knowledge of the fundamentals of human behavior, including systems theory, family dynamics, group dynamics, and theories of behavior change, is essential. Awareness of local community resources and agencies is an asset.
