The Security and Emergencies Division is responsible for coordination amongst different levels of government and the private sector to improve prevention, preparedness, and response capabilities in New Brunswick for deliberate, accidental, or natural events.

The Department of Justice and Public Safety is seeking a motivated individual to join the Strategic Projects and Analysis Branch of the Security & Emergency Division as a Junior or Senior Analyst working in Fredericton.

The Strategic Projects & Analysis Branch provides innovative, strategic support on Security & Emergency Division priorities. The Strategic Project & Analysis team works closely with client branches to successfully deliver projects and programs in an ever-changing environment.

What you will do
As a Junior/Senior Analyst you will be reporting directly to the Director of the branch and will be responsible for:

Project and Program Leadership

  • Developing, analyzing, and implementing operational policies and strategies.
  • Developing programs, and revising existing ones, to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Creating clear program related information such as applications, instructional guides, procedures, and manuals where applicable.
  • Effectively managing projects.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Working collaboratively to develop new initiatives and creative work processes with a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Sharing key insights and information across the organization.
  • Conducting analysis and developing recommendations for divisional priorities and initiatives.

Research and Analysis

  • Analyzing and creating information materials.
  • Tracking and reporting on programs and activities.

Communication and service to the public is an important element of this role as well as the ability to prioritize, multi-task and work well under pressure.

Work environment

  • Office location: Victoria Heath Centre, 65 Brunswick Street, Fredericton NB. (Remote/hybrid work available).
  • Office layout: Offices and cubicles.
  • Standard hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:15am to 4:30pm.

Need to have

  • Candidates must pass an enhanced security check.
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and must be able to obtain and maintain security clearance at the level of Secret.

Junior Analyst (PB3):

  • A university degree in public administration, business administration, political science, management, or other related discipline, and
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.

Senior Analyst (PB4):

  • A university degree in public administration, business administration, political science, management, or other related discipline, and
  • Minimum of four (4) years of related experience.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

Language capability:
Written and spoken competence in English is required, please state your language capability.

Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)

  • Preference may be given to candidates that demonstrate experience with interpretation of legislation and policy;
  • Experience applying continuous improvement principles, or have formal training, e.g., Lean Six Sigma;
  • Experience and/or training with change management, and/or
  • Experience with government decision-making processes, including the legislative approval process

Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage

  • Pay Band 3: $1,703.00 to $2,722.00 bi-weekly
  • Pay Band 4: $2,140.00 to $2,993.00 bi-weekly
