About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Prosthetic Technician to join our team at Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our clinical health team, you will play a vital role in providing prosthetic care to patients, working collaboratively with our inter-professional healthcare team to deliver high-quality care and achieve patient goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, design, fabrication, implementation, and maintenance of limb prostheses to enhance patient mobility and physical function.
  • Work closely with prosthetists to ensure the quality and integrity of prostheses meet patient needs and goals.
  • Contribute to the prosthetic evaluation, treatment planning, treatment implementation, re-evaluation, and ongoing care of patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal care and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Two-year diploma in Prosthetic/Orthotic Technician Program plus completion of a two-year (3450 hours) Technical Internship supervised by a Registered Technician or Certified Prosthetist.
  • Registered as a Registered Technician Prosthetic RTP(c), or as both a RTP(c) and RTO(c).
  • Successful Completion of the National Technician Registration Examination (Orthotics Prosthetics Canada).
  • Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada.
  • Experience working with patients with physical/cognitive impairments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to manage changing caseloads.
  • High level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, and computer skills.
  • Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and infection control procedures.
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
