The expected salary range for this role is CAD $ 179, ,465 . This range is tied to the British Columbia market for jobs performed in British Columbia. The salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, training, and/or experience. About this role

Overall responsibility for Canadian Legacy Site management portfolio of approximately 8 properties throughout Canada, including ensuring compliance with permits, closure and reclamation plan commitments, project development and execution, risk management, stakeholder engagement, and environmental regulatory and internal standards compliance. Works with internal leaders and external constituents, including government regulators and legal counsel, to meet a complex set of stakeholder requirements. Management of the Canadian Legacy Sites has significant financial and reputational risk management implications.

Your role will consist of

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

•Develop, implement and manage care and maintenance programs, regulatory compliance systems, reclamation/closure plans and projects for all Canadian Legacy Sites.

•Lead, manage and oversee all aspects of the Canadian Legacy Site Management team across multiple site locations.

•Contribute to overall Legacy Site Management strategy development and execution within the Canadian Legacy sites.

•Lead and manage stakeholder relationships and interactions with government regulators, elected officials, and community leaders. Engage with outside legal counsel to manage external regulatory and stakeholder interests and risks

•Set, monitor, and measure goals for the portfolio of the Canadian Legacy Sites. Monitor corrective actions resulting from audits and inspections. Ensure compliance with natural resource monitoring required by various site closure commitments, permits, settlements, or access agreements.

•Develop a 10-year portfolio closure and reclamation strategy for Canadian Legacy Sites and long-term (50 year) risk mitigation strategies, with the overall goal of reducing and minimizing accrued liability.

•Establish budgets for the full organization and monitor and report on implementation and forecasts.

•Consolidate reporting on the Canadian Legacy Site portfolio performance.

•Ensure all portfolio operations, construction, and oversight activities are managed in conformance and compliance with applicable policies and standards including environmental, Social, and Fatality Risk Management, and Global Industry standards on Tailings Management.

•Conduct routine site regulatory planning, reporting and oversight of activities around reclamation and closure engineering, site investigation and baseline studies, remedial design, design review, planning, implementation, and execution.

•Prepare, update, and maintain records to ensure compliance with applicable laws, Territorial and Provincial regulations, closure plans, and commitments.

Your Training, Skills & Experience

Here is what we need to see from you

Education:

•Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in civil, mining, or environmental engineering or related field.

•Must be registered, or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer in BC, Northwest Territories and Ontario, Canada.

•Knowledge and experience with Federal Provincial and Territorial environmental regulatory framework, , including BC, Northwest Territories, and Ontario Mines Act and Regulations, as well as the Mines Health & Safety Act and Regulations.

Experience:

•Minimum 7-10 years of relevant experience.

•Environmental compliance and reporting.

•Reclamation/closure plan development and implementation.

•Consultant, contractor, and capital project management.

•Budget development and management.

Skills and Abilities:

•Provides team leadership and collaboration; mobilizing teams in high-pressure situations (e.g., environmental incidents or site issues). Remote leadership/management.

•Relationship building and influence tactics; collaboration with varied stakeholder groups (e.g., regulatory agencies, community leaders, indigenous peoples, corporate executives).

•Building credibility with internal and external leaders; presentation and communication skills.

•Representing the company's brand, reputation, and relationships.

•Project management; leading a substantial number of varied projects with shifting deadlines and requirements.

•Longer-term thinking; development of 1-3 year strategy and business plan; budget development/management.

•Analysis of complex problems and generating solutions with broad acceptance.

•Target setting; measurement and monitoring progress against goals.

•Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and MS Project applications.

•Strong SAP skills.

•Must hold and maintain a valid Passport and Provincial motor vehicle operating license.

Working Conditions & Location


•This position is based in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Canada.

•Approximately 25% of the time will be in the field with possible exposure to harsh winter/summer weather extremes, chemicals, mine waste, and wildlife.

•Travel required with possible consultation with international legacy sites. Must be available to travel as necessary and able to fly as a passenger in helicopters and small aircraft.
