We are seeking a skilled Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and code specifications;
- Performing basic inspections and preventative maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems;
- Operating, maintaining, servicing, repairing, installing, and replacing HVAC and refrigeration equipment;
- Installing wiring and cabling, and calibrating related controls;
- Measuring, cutting, bending, threading, and connecting pipe to functional components and utilities;
- Working with vendors to organize work, subtrades, parts, and material logistics;
- Preparing work estimates, including material, rentals, labor, etc.;
- Operating DDC software, monitoring, and adjusting as needed;
- Developing SOPs and documentation where required;
- Reviewing heat and cooling requirements, and recommending modifications for optimal system effectiveness and efficiency;
- Utilizing a work order management system to manage and accurately record work effort;
- Making recommendations on replacement of end-of-life or failed systems and materials;
- Conducting trouble shooting and corrective maintenance when required;
- Maintaining assigned tools and equipment to ensure availability in a safe operating condition;
- Ensuring safe seasonal start-ups and shutdowns of HVAC systems;
- Performing start-ups and shutdowns of major building equipment when required;
- Attending after-hours HVAC and refrigeration emergencies and planned shutdowns/start-ups;
- Participating in meetings as required;
- Traveling and working at various sites;
- Performing other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Minimum 5 years' experience working on HVAC/Refrigeration equipment;
- Valid 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning license;
- Valid G1 or G2 gas ticket;
- Ability to be on-call as needed;
- Valid driver's license and ability to work at multiple locations;
- Ability to work overtime as needed;
- Valid Ontario Freon Handling (ODP) license;
- Boiler experience and service of boilers, maintenance on boilers, boiler repairs;
- Demonstrated capabilities in accountability, judgement, decision-making, problem solving, etc.;
- Proven ability to effectively interact with clients, tenants, management, and staff;
- Proven ability to foster/develop/maintain relationships with internal/external contacts;
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Outlook;
- Preference for candidates with experience preparing cost estimates and generating add-on work.
