Job Summary:We are seeking a qualified Preschool Program Instructor to join our team. As a Preschool Program Instructor, you will be responsible for planning, programming, and instructing preschool programs that meet the needs of all participants and ensure adequate safety while facilitating leisure activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Support the objectives and philosophies of preschool programs through quality instruction that meets the needs of the customer.
- Prepare and plan lessons in advance to ensure a engaging and interactive experience for participants.
- Ensure program supplies and equipment are available and in good condition to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment.
- Provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to parents, participants, volunteers, and staff.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all registered participants by maintaining supervision at all times and adhering to department safety standards.
- Prepare and maintain administrative records as required, including facility checks, attendance, and accident/incident reports.
- Maintain cleanliness of program area and equipment to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
- Communicate regularly with Program Supervisor or designate to ensure program needs are being met.
- Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled to stay up-to-date on best practices and department policies.
- Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the success of the preschool program.
- At least 15 years of age
- A diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent, plus two years of working experience with preschool-aged children is considered an asset
- A dynamic, outgoing individual with an aptitude for working with preschool-aged children (Birth to 5 years of age)
- Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR B or C certification (or higher) from a WSIB-approved provider
- HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level III - Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga
Hourly Rate/Salary: $21.08
Hours of Work: up to 24 hours
Work Location: Various Locations
