About the Role- Assess and underwrite commercial risks, working alongside clients and brokers to recommend coverage types and examine COPE details, business operations, and current policy coverages.
- Establish terms and conditions for commercial insurance policies, including new business and renewal coverage limits, extensions, endorsements, warranties, and exclusions.
- Determine premium rates that are both competitive and indicative of the risk level, evaluating risks across various lines of Commercial Property & Casualty business.
- Proactively engage in the on-going development of relationships with clients and brokers, aiming to precisely underwrite risks that complement our commercial portfolio and risk appetite.
- Guarantee that all underwriting practices adhere to industry regulations and company guidelines, working in collaboration with the actuarial and claims departments.
- Minimum three (3+) years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting setting.
- A General Insurance License Level 1 or 2 is required; we'll arrange enrollment in General Insurance Training during your first week.
- Post-secondary education and/or CIP designation are considered an asset.
- Excellent understanding and expertise of commercial industry underwriting practices and market norms.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, teamwork-oriented mindset, and a keen aspiration for professional development.
- Capacity to handle and prioritize numerous projects while staying calm under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, enabling effective interaction across all organizational levels and with clients and brokers.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Acute observational and problem-solving skills with exceptional organizational abilities and high-level attention to detail.
