**What you will be doing**:
**Risk Assessment**: Work alongside clients and brokers to assess and underwrite the profiles of commercial risks. This involves using your expertise to recommend coverage types, examine COPE details, business operations, current policy coverages and documents, and other pertinent factors.**:
**Policy Development**: Establish the terms and conditions for commercial insurance policies, such as new business and renewal coverage limits, extensions, endorsements, warranties, and exclusions, by evaluating the risk associated from both subscription and non-subscription-based policies.**:
**Pricing**: Establish premium rates that are both competitive and indicative of the risk level. You’ll determine pricing for risks across various lines of Commercial Property & Casualty business, both directly and through broker relations.
**Client & Brokerage Interaction**: Proactively engage in the on-going development of both new and existing relationships with clients and brokers, aiming to precisely underwrite risks that complement our commercial portfolio and risk appetite, all the while maintaining our high standard of excellence.
**Compliance & Collaboration**: Guarantee that all underwriting practices adhere to industry regulations and company guidelines. Work in collaboration with the actuarial and claims departments to conduct thorough analyses of rates and terms for commercial risks, aiming to refine and enhance our policy offerings and competitive advantage.
**What you bring to the team**:
- Minimum three (3+) years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting setting.
- A General Insurance License Level 1 or 2 is required. If you don’t already have one, we’ll arrange enrollment in General Insurance Training during your first week. You’ll need to pass your AIC licensing exam within 90 days of hire.
- Post-secondary education and/or CIP designation are considered an asset.
- Excellent understanding and expertise of commercial industry underwriting practices and market norms.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities, teamwork-oriented mindset, and a keen aspiration for professional development.
- Capacity to handle and prioritize numerous projects while staying calm under tight deadlines.
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, enabling effective interaction across all organizational levels and with clients and brokers.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Acute observational and problem-solving skills with exceptional organizational abilities and high-level attention to detail.
