About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Associate Physician to join our team in the Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiac Surgery. As a Clinical Assistant, you will work under the supervision of a fully licensed physician to provide medical care to patients. This is a permanent, full-time position with a 96-hour bi-weekly schedule.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist at surgical procedures and perform appropriate portions of the procedure under direct attending supervision.
  • Work with attending staff, nurses, and residents to develop the overall patient care program.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and referring physicians regarding patient management plans.
  • Perform and document admission history and physical examinations, progress notes, discharge summaries, and death certificates.
  • Manage the day-to-day care of patients, including writing medical orders and responding to emergencies.
About You

We are looking for a candidate who meets the requirements to obtain a Clinical Assistant License from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. You must have obtained a Review of Qualifications from The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia prior to application. Additionally, you must have CMPA coverage and ACLS certification. Good command of written and spoken English is required, as well as the ability to promote and maintain good interpersonal skills.
