About the role

We are offering a 4-month or 8-month internship opportunity in Mechanical or Electrical engineering in Kitimat at our Rio Tinto Aluminium group facility

Our internship in Mechanical Engineering will allow you to be involved in research, design, development, testing and maintenance of aspects of manufacturing and installing electrical equipment, components, and systems.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Creating and updating Maintenance Plan for Departmental assets.
  • Take small projects from concept to execution.
  • Implement cost saving strategies
  • Assist technical team improve asset reliability

What you'll bring:

  • At least one year completed in Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical/Control Systems Engineering or any other related field
  • Safety mindset
  • Leadership skills, eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
  • Flexibility and Autonomy
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team
  • Valid driving license

*Only students returning to school post internship will be considered.

With industry leading new technology and four generations of employee expertise, as well as our hydropower facility at Kemano and the Nechako Reservoir, the Kitimat smelter is one of the world's most competitive aluminum smelters, producing aluminum with one of the lowest carbon footprints in the industry.
