Seeking a Receptionist to provide exceptional patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced Molecular Imaging and Therapy environment.

The Receptionist plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of patient care services, performing a variety of clerical functions in accordance with established protocols, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a receptionist, receiving and directing patients and visitors, answering telephones, taking and/or relaying messages, responding to inquiries from physicians' offices and patients related to appointments and/or release of information, and responding to general enquiries in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Receiving requisitions, determining patient appointment priority by evaluating patient information such as patient history, test results, and pertinent reports, scheduling appointments according to established priorities and based on degree of urgency and type of test or procedure, and issuing related patient information and instructions to other departments.
  • Ensuring that incoming requisitions have correct and complete information and that patient appointments have been scheduled. Files requisitions in chronological order.
  • Contacting patients the day before their scan to confirm appointment and review necessary preparations. Reviews appointment schedule and computer print out for the next day's appointment schedule and ensures that all requisitions are available and all information is complete and correct.
  • Preparing set-up for late arriving requisitions and preparing identification label and envelopes.
  • Completing Functional Imaging (PET) examination lists; copies and distributes to appropriate area.

Requirements:

  • Grade 12, and two (2) years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.

Key Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; interacts in a positive manner with others, including staff/physicians across the agency.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Physically carry out the duties of the position and operate related equipment.
  • Strong keyboard skills.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and other related reports.
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.).
