About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pet Imaging Specialist, Molecular Therapy to join our team at BC Cancer. As a key member of our Regional Functional Imaging department, you will be responsible for performing Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (PET/CT) imaging and related technical and patient care duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform PET/CT Scanning: Select the appropriate imaging protocol, position the patient for the scan, perform image acquisition and data reconstruction, and present the final image data set to the PET physician for interpretation.
  • Prepare Patients for Scanning: Explain the procedure to the patient, answer questions, and obtain informed consent prior to starting.
  • Perform Technical Work: Correlate clinical history with examination, take and record baseline vital signs, establish venous access for radiotracer injection, check and record blood glucose levels, and administer the appropriate radiotracer.
  • Monitor Patient Safety: Obtain blood pressure readings and directly observe patients for any physical signs of distress. Respond to emergent situations in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Operate PET and CT Equipment: Use established standards and procedures to operate PET and associated CT computers and equipment.
Requirements
  • Certification: Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Experience: Three (3) years of recent experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Education: Completion of formal PET/CT education, such as the CAMRT PET/CT certificate program or the equivalence of training and/or experience.
