The BC Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB) is one of two branches of government that provide oversight for the beverage alcohol and non-medical cannabis industries in the province. The LDB is responsible for the wholesale distribution of liquor and cannabis, and operates the retails brands BCLIQUOR and BC Cannabis Stores.

Corporate Operations at the BCLDB includes our Corporate Loss Prevention and Real Estate departments. Real Estate manages all activities related to the leasing, construction, renovation, and facilities management of all new and existing LDB facilities, included head office, distribution centers, and all BC Liquor and BC Cannabis retail locations. The Corporate Loss Prevention department ensures the security of all BCLDB assets through physical security management as well as an investigative team.

About this role:

The Business Continuity Advisor reports to the Director, Construction & Facilities and represents the most senior level of knowledge in the field of business continuity planning for the Liquor Distribution Branch with mission critical services and accountabilities under Schedule 2 of the Emergency Program Management Regulations, as well as many business lines and geographic locations.

The Advisor is responsible to promote, plan, develop, implement, test, and monitor LDB wide business continuity plans to ensure business priority and mission critical LDB services and processes continue to function or are returned to service as quickly as possible in the event of a business interruption.

A criminal record check is required.

Working conditions include:

  • The ability to travel overnight within the Province of British Columbia.
  • The ability to be available for on-call and extended hours during incidents and exercises.

Position requirements:

Education and Experience:

Degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, and 2 years of recent, related experience; OR

Diploma in Emergency Management, Risk Management, and 3 years of recent, related experience; OR

Certificate or coursework in Business Continuity Planning and 4 years of recent, related experience; OR

High School Diploma plus 6 years of recent, related experience as defined below may be considered:

Related experience must have occurred in the last 8 years and must include the following:

  • Experience with facilitating groups to consensus, developing and delivering adult training and designing and delivering emergency management exercises.
  • Experience in the preparation of business case analyses and request for proposal/request for information (RFPs/RFI).
  • Experience in Business Continuity Planning.
