About the Role

Microsoft Canada is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to lead and innovate within our engineering team. As a technical leader, you will guide the team through complex challenges with your deep expertise, mentoring and developing new leaders within the team, and sharing your knowledge to elevate the skills and capabilities of others.

This role is pivotal in making a tangible impact on our products and the overall experience we deliver to our customers. You will have the autonomy to drive significant improvements and the empowerment to make strategic decisions that shape the direction of our products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a technical lead for high-impact projects, ensuring timely delivery with an emphasis on quality.
  • Provide deep technical expertise in areas such as architecture, design, code reviews, development, quality assurance, and live site management.
  • Collaborate closely with Program and Product Managers to identify and prioritize the most critical, urgent, or impactful areas.
  • Mentor and develop new leaders within the team, sharing your knowledge to elevate the skills and capabilities of others.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Technical Lead, demonstrating leadership in guiding teams through complex projects.
  • 6+ years of experience in designing, building, and shipping large-scale cloud services, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience in developing and maintaining client-facing SDKs, with a focus on usability, performance, and integration.
  • Proficiency in.NET development, essential for building and supporting SDKs and related applications.
  • Release Management: Proficient experience in managing the release processes of SDKs, ensuring smooth deployment and versioning.
