Job Overview

Microsoft Canada is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineering Lead to join our Core OS team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing features in the Windows networking stack that enhance network security. You will work closely with global teams to collaborate on design and development activities, and be responsible for timely and high-quality delivery of fixes for defects or features in the networking stacks.

As a Principal Software Engineering Lead, you will embody our culture and values, and demonstrate core values of Microsoft leadership, including creating clarity, generating energy, and delivering results with a growth mindset. You will also be responsible for mentoring and guiding the team to ensure they are productive and successful.

Key qualifications for this role include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python. You will also have 6+ years of software development experience, and 5+ years of industry experience shipping high-quality software.

Preferred qualifications include experience with networking protocols and architecture, proficient communication and collaboration skills, and proficient debugging, coding, testing, and problem-solving skills.

Key responsibilities for this role include designing features in the Windows networking stack, conducting timely review of design and code, holding regular 1:1s and team meetings, conducting analysis and focused investigations based on customer cases, and being responsible for timely and high-quality delivery of fixes for defects or features in the networking stacks.

Other responsibilities include collaborating with global teams for design and development activities, learning and maintaining networking standards-based protocols, and embodying our culture and values.
