Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Unit Clerk to join our team at The Salvation Army - Toronto Grace Health Centre. As a Unit Clerk, you will play a vital role in supporting the patient care unit by performing various administrative and clerical duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day staff scheduling as per collective agreements under the direction of the Patient Care Manager.
  • Maintain patient records as needed.
  • Schedule patients' appointments and coordinate patient transportation and escorts as required.
  • Provide effective communication to internal and external clients.
  • Maintain clerical supplies for the healthcare team.
  • Answer high-volume telephone inquiries from patients, families, and refer callers to other healthcare team members or appropriate individuals.
  • Responsible for Patient Care Conference calendar.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities to enhance the quality of the patient care environment.
  • Promote a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Provide backup support to other unit clerks.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 Diploma plus Community College Business/Office Administration, Medical Diploma.
  • 2 years' related experience.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment is an asset.
  • Knowledge and experience working in a unionized environment and understanding of Collective Agreement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and accurately in the presence of frequent interruptions.
  • Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and discretion.
  • Ability to manage frequent changes within a team environment.
  • Must have the physical strength, flexibility, and endurance required to perform the job, as determined by the physical needs assessment of the position conducted by Corporate Occupational Health and Safety.
