About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity for passionate individuals to join our team and provide comprehensive clinical counselling and therapy to youth and adults with, or affected by, problematic substance use or addictions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive clinical counselling and therapy to youth and adults with, or affected by, problematic substance use or addictions.
- Assess clients and determine referral needs, liaising with community resources and mental health centres as required.
- Formulate and implement treatment plans, collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and evaluating goals.
- Provide comprehensive case consultation and follow-up support on treatment decisions, communicating with external professional community sources.
- Maintain client records, documenting client assessments, charting client information, and preparing progress notes and reports.
- Participate in and lead team and/or local committees and internal and external case conferences, engaging in practice evaluation and identifying opportunities for change.
- Provide prevention services, identifying ongoing prevention needs within the community and participating in advisory committees and/or prevention task forces.
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver in-services, education sessions, presentations, and training to clients, families, staff, and other caregivers.
- Maintain broad development of the Mental Health and Substance Use profession, reviewing literature and research, consulting with clinical and community experts, and participating in professional development activities.
We are seeking a candidate with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Clinical Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or other health-related or social science discipline, and two (2) years' recent related addictions counselling experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of problematic substance use, addictions, mental health disorders, medication side effects, and substance use counselling techniques.
- Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement, evaluate, and problem-solve.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English and Punjabi, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively with others, including working effectively in a multicultural environment, independently, as part of an interdisciplinary team, and understanding the frameworks of other disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with clients, families, staff, and community agency personnel.
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload in a complex environment.
- Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of relevant Acts, regulations, policies, and procedures.
