Actuarial Analyst Role Summary:
Help Canadian businesses navigate global markets by analyzing financial risks and developing actuarial models.

At Export Development Canada (EDC), we help Canadian businesses succeed in global markets. Our Corporate Actuarial team is responsible for activities such as valuation of insurance contracts, determination of capital requirements and forecasting insurance liabilities. The Risk Quantification Team focuses on developing and continually enhancing portfolio management tools and applications for the quantifying, monitoring, managing, and reporting all financial risks (credit, insurance, market, investment, and operational).

As an Actuarial Analyst, you will apply your actuarial, mathematical and problem solving skills to develop and maintain actuarial models used in the financial reporting of EDC's insurance liabilities, the determination of economic capital and stress testing activities. You will drive efficiency and governance improvements in our processes, participate in various projects and special assignments, and tackle complex problems with your expertise. Daily, you will manage multiple priorities and deadlines with minimal supervision.

Your Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Quantifying EDC's insurance liabilities, financial performance and economic capital for insurance contracts.
  • Maintaining, monitoring and updating actuarial cash flow models, ensuring compliance with EDC's Model Risk Management policies.
  • Collaborating on model validation activities, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and proposing solutions using actuarial, statistical and data science techniques.

To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • An undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics or in a related field.
  • Knowledge of actuarial principles and practices.
  • Advanced skills in using Microsoft applications such as Excel and Word.

Advantageous assets include:
  • Experience in actuarial analysis and risk management.
  • Knowledge of both official languages (French and English).
  • Active pursuit of actuarial designation (ACIA, FCIA).
  • Advanced programming skills in data manipulation (SAS Viya, SAS Visual Analytics, SQL, Python).

Salaries for this role typically range from $62,336 to $83,116, with increases based on qualifications and experience.
