Site Supervisor: Wildfire Fuel Mitigation

Cabin Operations Ltd. has built a foundation of experience and dedication to quality and innovative solutions in four main divisions: forestry, environmental operations, recreation solutions and wildfire management. We are currently looking to add a Site Supervisor: Wildfire Fuel Mitigation to our Wildfire team.

Responsibilities:

As a Site Supervisor: Wildfire Fuel Mitigation, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Pre-Planning work execution strategy and methods for optimal production.
  • Adjusting work execution strategy and methods where needed during course of project.
  • Preparing and having all Field Project Documentation requirements available on site.
  • Responsible for Infield Quality control of operations.
  • Supervising SubContractors and Machinery.
  • Supervising active falling sites.
  • Field Supervision of Safety Program for project.
  • Coordinates equipment, trucks and field gear for project.
  • Tracks infield production on a daily basis.
  • Interface and liaison with Client in field on day-to-day basis.
  • Daily reporting and updates for projects to Project Manager.
  • Equipment and Truck Maintenance.
  • Truck Usage and Expenses reporting
  • Field Level Supervision of implementation of Wildfire Fuel Mitigation/FireSmart/Ecosystem Restoration Projects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Required minimum 2-3 years supervising wildfire fuel mitigation projects/brushing projects.
  • Required experience 1+ years working on wildfire suppression crews.
  • Required S-100/S-185 certifications.
  • Required to be available to regularly travel and work for extended periods in a living out arrangement.
  • Required 3-4 years of chainsaw experience.
  • Required drivers license with clean abstract.
  • BCFSC, CAGC, BC Wildfire Falling certification would be considered an asset.
  • Wildfire, Park or Silviculture DTA would be considered an asset.
  • BSFSC falling supervisor course completion would be considered an asset.
  • Strong organization, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards.
  • Must have effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and situational awareness skills are very important for success in this role.
