Who we are

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) works at the centre of the province's power system, ensuring Ontarians have access to reliable and cost-effective electricity when and where they need it. We operate the province's electricity grid 24/7, design, run and oversee the wholesale electricity markets, and plan and prepare to meet Ontario's electricity needs - now and into the future.

Our HR Team is looking to fill the newly created role of Senior Manager, Organizational Transformation & Change. This individual will lead and manage organizational transformation projects across the organization. The role will collaborate with the business to understand needs, analyze existing structures and processes, and design solutions that improve organizational efficiency and agility. Through organizational design, functional and business model reviews, change and project management, this role will create and define the structures, roles and skills business lines need to transform the organization, and the sector.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and manage high profile, complex, enterprise-wide organizational design, business model transformation projects and functional reviews that align structure, decision making models and workflows
  • Take an enterprise view across complex and diverse business lines to identify opportunities for efficiency and synergy to build new capacity to propel the organization forward to support sector transformation that aligns with evolving corporate strategic priorities
  • Work with cross-functional HR and client teams to assess business needs, analyze structures and processes, and integrate organizational design, talent and resourcing needs with strategic workforce planning/multi-year budget planning activities
  • Build tools, resources, and processes for HR and leaders to guide organizational change & transformation from planning through to implementation
  • Enhance team capability by embedding expertise in people change management, project management and strategic communications to bring rigor and consistency to approaching evolutions in organizational efficiency and agility

What you need to succeed

Organizational Transformation & Change Experience

  • You have extensive experience leading large-scale organizational structure, design and business model transformation projects in highly complex, multi-unionized environments
  • You have comprehensive knowledge and experience in organizational design principles, including, but not limited to, assessing and redesigning organizational frameworks, functional business models, layers and span of control, role and job design, competencies, and reporting structures
  • You have experience developing and executing comprehensive organizational design and change management plans, including leadership alignment, communication and stakeholder engagement, training programs, and stakeholder engagement and ongoing adoption plans - all of which need to be coordinated across multiple program releases, locations, and unique deployment scenarios
  • You have experience managing and driving transformational/innovative change, addressing opportunities for continuous improvement and implementation of complex projects using rigorous project management methods and tools

  • You have demonstrated experience in building high performing teams, developing team members and promoting a strong organizational culture of continuous improvement & excellence
  • You are an inclusive leader who fosters and creates a culture of diversity, inclusion, anti-racism, and equity in the workplace
  • You have leadership experience in a fast-paced environment with a demonstrated ability to set priorities, manage and motivate a diverse group of professionals to achieve high quality and timely results, especially during times of change
  • You have a proven track record of strategic thinking and challenging the status quo, driving innovation while ensuring effective performance and risk management
  • You bring a digital and data mindset to your work, and embed it within your teams

Relationship Management, Collaboration and Communication Skills

  • You have a collaborative leadership style and recognize the value of working horizontally with internal and external partners with diverse perspectives
  • You have a strong track record of building trust, credibility and collaborative relationships with teams, executive level clients, and partners
  • You are an effective facilitator and consensus builder who is able to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to advance shared priorities and manage complex issues
  • You are a skilled communicator with proven experience providing succinct briefings, advice, and effective presentations on complex issues in a clear and understandable manner to all levels of leadership
  • You exercise sound judgement and take a systems-wide view when developing solutions to complex issues to optimize outcomes for all stakeholders

Qualifications

  • University or post graduate degree pertinent to the job function - Human Resources, Organizational Design, Business Administration, or related field is required
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation considered an asset
  • Certification or equivalent experience in change and project management considered an asset
  • 8+ years of broad HR, organizational transformation, design and change experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior HR leadership role

The IESO offers a hybrid work model program to most of our employees, based on business needs. Individuals participating in the program can work an average of three days per week remotely within Ontario. It also offers three flex weeks when individuals can work remotely within Ontario . When working in the office, you will be located at our Toronto location.
