About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Assistant to provide senior-level administrative support to the CEO. This is a critical role that requires a high degree of professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in managing correspondence and information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate all aspects of the CEO's role, including issues management, budget administration, financial management, government relations, human resources, stakeholder and public relations, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of government practices and policies to deal with routine matters and minimize the CEO's time spent on inquiries, correspondence, and requests.
  • Act as the Recording Secretary for the Board of Commissioners, supporting decision-making processes, Commission meetings, correspondence, record keeping, etc.
  • Provide functional leadership and coordination to the administrative team and coordinate certain aspects of Commission operations beyond the CEO's Office.
  • Support the Commission Legal Team as a back-up function, providing administrative support and certain legal assistant/paralegal functions during the Legal Assistant's absence.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary education in secretarial studies, business/office administration, or paralegal studies.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in administrative/senior administrative roles.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills, excellent communication skills, and ability to prioritize multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • High degree of professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and discretion in managing correspondence and information.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in proofreading, punctuation, and grammar skills.
  • Experience working in a legal environment and/or managing an executive office is considered an asset.
  • Experience with public sector financial management is also an asset.
