THE ROLE

Director, Facilities & Construction

WHAT YOU'LL DO

We are currently hiring for a talented and team-oriented Director, Facilities & Construction to join our Western Canada Leadership Team. Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Director, Facilities & Construction will be responsible for the overall vision and management of a team dedicated to supporting the growth and development of our business network in Western Canada including facilities (maintenance and construction), affiliate programs, CAPEX project management and other related functions and activities.

The Director, Facilities & Construction will be an essential member of the Western Canada business unit, having substantial influence not only on business growth, but the overall culture direction of the Western Canada team. This individual will have a team of direct reports, many of whom also have support staff, making engagement, development and team culture key focuses for this role.

  • Support an outstanding customer experience in all of our stores and business.
  • Engage, support, challenge, lead and develop a team of talented managers and associates in support of our Western Canada culture.
  • Manage and set the overall direction for our affiliate program.
  • Liaise with the Global Real Estate team in evaluating NTI (new to industry) opportunities.
  • Manage the deployment of CAPEX projects, ensuring ROI is calculated and met based on company direction.
  • Lead the overall facilities maintenance function, ensuring equipment and facilities are adequate for an exceptional customer experience. Including maintenance of equipment, facility repairs and other maintenance needs.
  • Provide clear direction and project management guidance on construction projects (new builds, renovations, equipment installations etc.)
WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Education:

  • Bachelor's, Masters or other advanced degree in Business, Management, Finance or other complimentary focuses.

Experience:

  • Five to eight years of experience working in project management, construction, facilities management or related experience.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Retail industry knowledge is key
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • A proven ability and track record of developing and engaging multi-disciplinary teams
  • Ability to prioritize and work effectively within stated timeframes and deadlines.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to travel as required up to 50%
