Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Coordinator (QA Coordinator) will work collaboratively with the QA Manager to ensure timely and regular feedback to operations staff on their call-taking and dispatch performance in accordance with established evaluation standards and protocols (qualitative and quantitative). The individual will conduct themselves in a professional manner, with the values expected of MTCC staff.

Under the guidance of the QA Manager, the QA Coordinator will use the various tools and systems available at MTCC to complete regular call review, document and deliver feedback as well as investigate incidents as they arise. S/he will advise of any performance concerns encountered and contribute to the development of strategies to address such concerns. The individual will work to achieve the departmental key performance indicators which include but are not limited to compliance with MTCC's requirements for individual, team and organizational performance as part of the overall quality assurance reporting in the broader health care system.

Experience
  • Experience working with and applying quality assurance and quality improvement principles.
  • Experience working in a health care environment, preferably within the Emergency Medical Services system.
  • Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Office.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Degree/diploma in a health care discipline.
  • Current International Academy of Emergency Dispatch Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification.
  • International Academy of Emergency Dispatch Quality Assurance (ED-Q) Certification.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Current International Academy of Emergency Dispatch Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) Certification.
  • International Academy of Emergency Dispatch Quality Assurance (ED-Q) Certification.
  • Maintains licensure with the College of Paramedics of Manitoba at an EMR level (or greater) registration.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work a variety of shift patterns.
  • Ability to respect privacy and confidentiality.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience working in an Emergency Medical Communications Centre.
  • Experience working with a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system.
