DescriptionThe Shelter Support Worker plays a vital role in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for clients, providing emotional support and crisis intervention when needed.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor client activities and provide personal, practical, and moral support.
- Accurately record daily events and incidents using established methods.
- Assist clients in accessing clean clothing and laundry services.
- Coordinate client care related to security issues.
- Conduct regular facility inspections.
- Prepare and serve meals, snacks, and beverages.
- Perform janitorial duties as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification or willingness to obtain.
- CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
- WHMIS Training and Universal Precautions Training.
- A strong asset: a formal post-secondary diploma in a related field, such as Social Service Work or Mental Health & Addictions.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with individuals in need.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Successful candidates may be required to provide:
- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector screening.
- A clean driving record.
- Completion of our online Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
