Mental Health Therapist Staff

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Therapist to join our team at Kikinahk Friendship Centre. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide ongoing mental health and psycho-social client services to a diverse client group, including adults, children, and youth.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide mental health and psycho-social client services to a diverse client group
- Screen and assess client needs, determining relevant treatment plans
- Initiate or participate in community development initiatives and evaluate PHC initiatives within the site
- Promote quality health care outcomes, working within established standards of practice to ensure clients receive a high standard of primary health care
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or Bachelor Degree in a health-related field
- Bachelor of Psychology is acceptable
- Intermediate - Demonstrated skill in maintaining files and records
- Intermediate - Written Communication Skills
- Advanced - Interpersonal skills
- Intermediate - Communication skills
- Basic - Computer skills
- Advanced - Counseling skills
- Intermediate - Demonstrated skills with Addiction and Concurrent disorders assessment/counseling
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Working knowledge of Suicide Intervention skills
- Knowledge and skill in mental health intervention methodologies
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act/related legislation
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions
- Ability to advocate on behalf of clients, caregivers/extended family members
- Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model
- Knowledge of healing practices and indigenous-based healing initiatives
- Ability to conduct a suicide risk assessment with other health care providers
