Seeking a Survey Crew Chief to manage field survey work, coordinate with project managers, and provide guidance to survey assistants in Lloydminster, AB.

As a Survey Crew Chief with GeoVerra, you will be responsible for managing and performing field survey work, liaising with project managers, and providing guidance to survey assistants. You will also be expected to prepare field notes, sketches, and digital data, and contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and perform field survey work with the support of survey assistants.
  • Liaise with project managers to coordinate field survey work, review and manage project budgets, schedules, priorities, and survey methodology.
  • Liaise with client field representatives and landowners.
  • Prepare field notes, sketches, and digital data in required formats for different audiences.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to survey assistants.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of industry best practices, efficient field processes and procedures, and the innovative use of new technology.
  • Proactively participate in and support the GeoVerra safety program.
  • Complete office technical survey tasks as required.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or degree in a post-secondary program related to surveying and geomatics or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years' experience in a survey crew chief role.
  • Strong working knowledge of survey equipment and software, including GPS and total stations.
  • Proficiency with digital leveling, municipal construction, and legal survey experience.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment and software, laser scanning, and line locating is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a field environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and motivate survey staff and work well in a team environment.
  • Aptitude for delivering projects on time and budget.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.

Job Conditions:

  • Primarily local work with occasional work away from home.
  • Ability to carry, lift, and push up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
